Chapter 3
Baek Seoyeon glanced sideways at Seohyun Woo, carefully observing his reaction.
The student council president’s expression, once always stiff and rigid, had somehow relaxed into something far more at ease.
Even while aware of her gaze, Seohyun Woo continued the meeting.
“The next matter concerns precautions regarding the Advance Battle. I believe an official notice about this was already sent once before.”
“They probably sent another notice to emphasize the importance of being careful. We can’t allow any accidents to happen.”
Advance Battle.
It was both a training exercise and a type of graduation evaluation conducted by the students of Miterich.
In addition to individual training, Miterich students periodically participated in Advance Battles.
Through these battles, they accumulated combat experience and skill while also earning the points required for graduation.
“The vice president is right. Advance Battles must not take place while the barrier system is under inspection. The administration office is probably blocking access to the Advance Battle system separately as well, correct?”
“Yes. However, since there’s always a possibility of unforeseen circumstances, we’ll relay the notice to the students one more time.”
“That would be best. The next instruction is…”
Seohyun Woo continued reviewing the official notices and proceeded with the meeting.
The department heads gradually adapted to the atmosphere and no longer reacted with surprise.
After that, no more sarcastic or critical remarks were directed at him.
“Now then, let’s hear the reports from each department head. Were there any issues after yesterday’s evening meeting?”
“The Attribute Department has no issues.”
“Same for the Enhancement Department.”
“……There was an incident in the Special Department. I was informed that two department members engaged in combat due to personal reasons. For now, both individuals have been detained, and we are awaiting disciplinary instructions from the Security Office.”
Seohyun Woo nodded and exchanged glances with Baek Seoyeon.
Since the matter had already been reported the previous night, the situation had already been dealt with.
This was merely a follow-up confirmation report.
“Then there’s a high chance Security Division personnel were dispatched. Were there any additional injuries?”
“Fortunately, no. The Security Division handled the matter quickly.”
“The Security Division really is useful. Is that because they belong to the Security Office?”
“……President, the Security Division is also part of the student council.”
“That can’t be right. Then why has the head of the Security Division never once shown their face to me? Do they think the student council president is easy to ignore? Or is it because the Security Office Chief holds a higher position? I’d like to hear what all of you think.”
At Seohyun Woo’s joke, the department heads burst into laughter at the same time and turned away.
Seeing that reaction, Seohyun Woo smiled in satisfaction.
The atmosphere had been far too heavy, so he had tossed out the joke without much thought.
Still, it had worked better than expected and noticeably lightened the mood.
“Haha! Are you serious?”
“About half serious. They shouldn’t take a department belonging to the student council just because they’re a higher-ranking organization.”
“So you’re planning to fight the Security Office?”
“I intend to file an official complaint with the administration office. If this is how things are going to be, then the Security Office should just take full responsibility for the Security Division instead of leaving it under the student council. I see no reason to suffer through handling Security Division paperwork myself.”
The Administration Office was a superior department responsible for handling Miterich’s administrative and clerical affairs.
The Security Office was another superior department responsible for maintaining safety and order within Miterich, and it also utilized the Security Division that officially belonged to the student council.
Seohyun Woo disliked that arrangement and intended to overturn it entirely.
‘In any case, the Security Office is eventually sanctioned for abusing its authority and duties. Once that happens, the Security Division naturally returns to the student council. I’m only moving that timing forward slightly, so it shouldn’t have much impact on the story.’
The Security Division was somewhat similar to a disciplinary committee in an ordinary school.
Although it operated for purposes similar to the Security Office, the difference was that its members were students of Miterich.
Moreover, the head of the Security Division was just as capable as the other department heads, meaning it was better to make them an ally in advance.
“This doesn’t sound like a joke anymore.”
“You suddenly want the Security Division returned? What’s your reason?”
“Didn’t I already explain it? The Security Division belongs to the student council. Even if its purpose overlaps with the Security Office, that doesn’t justify infringing on the student council’s authority. Am I wrong?”
“Theoretically, you’re right. But you alone won’t be able to stand against the Security Office.”
Jin Sehee spoke with a serious expression.
Although the position of student council president was impressive, it was not powerful enough to surpass a superior department.
If the Security Office objected, the president’s demands would likely be dismissed immediately.
“The solution is simple. If the opponent is stronger than me, then I simply bring in an enemy even stronger than they are.”
“A stronger enemy?”
“……I know who you mean. But there’s no guarantee they’ll agree to help.”
“Then I’ll bring someone even stronger.”
“So you really intend to see this through to the end.”
Jin Sehee understood the implication behind his words and said nothing further.
It might not have been the best method, but there were times when such measures were unavoidable to achieve one’s goal.
Besides, even if the Security Division returned to the student council, the Security Office would still attempt to interfere with it somehow.
“There are no other reports, correct? Then today’s morning assembly meeting is over. We’ll reconvene during the evening meeting later.”
Seohyun Woo closed the file binder and immediately rose from his seat.
Baek Seoyeon silently followed him out of the meeting room.
The three remaining department heads stayed motionless for a moment before slowly beginning to move again.
‘What exactly is the president trying to accomplish with this?’
‘He’s changed way too much in such a short time. Did something happen to him?’
‘He used to feel a little scary, but now it’s different somehow. Hmm…’
The moment the morning assembly meeting ended, Seohyun Woo returned directly to the student council president’s office.
Before lunchtime arrived, he managed to finish most of the urgent paperwork.
There were still smaller documents remaining, but he would likely finish everything before school dismissal.
Wanting a moment of peace, Seohyun Woo was currently strolling through the garden surrounding the student council building.
“Vice President, everything else aside, why do you keep following me around?”
“Supporting the president is also part of the vice president’s duties.”
Seohyun Woo glanced sideways at Baek Seoyeon with suspicion.
Her words were not entirely wrong, but there was clearly a difference between assisting someone and constantly trailing after them.
More importantly, the Baek Seoyeon he knew rarely spent time with Seohyun Woo outside of official work.
“Do you have something you want to say to me? If so, you can say it now.”
“Do you really think there’s anything for the two of us to discuss privately?”
“We can make something to talk about right now. For example… when’s your birthday, Vice President?”
“……Don’t tell me you don’t know?”
“You’re being awfully sensitive. I doubt you know my birthday either.”
“Isn’t it June 13th?”
“……?”
Seohyun Woo abruptly stopped walking and turned toward her.
Baek Seoyeon remembered his birthday exactly.
Since he thought their relationship was purely professional, he had assumed she held no personal interest in him.
Yet she remembered something so trivial.
“Now then, I’d like to hear your excuse for not remembering my birthday.”
“Uh… perhaps because we view our relationship differently?”
“That’s a fairly convincing excuse. Though it doesn’t change the fact that you failed to remember my birthday.”
“I can just remember it from now on. So when is it?”
“Try finding out yourself. I found yours on my own, after all.”
At her icy response, Seohyun Woo gave a faint nod and resumed walking.
Finding out Baek Seoyeon’s birthday would be simple enough using Miterich’s internal system.
Still, for some reason, she felt slightly different from the Baek Seoyeon he knew from the novel.
‘Ah, right. In the novel, everything was shown from the protagonist’s perspective, but now I’m seeing things from the student council president’s point of view. And Baek Seoyeon probably doesn’t see me the same way she sees the protagonist. She likely memorized my birthday while trying to figure out how to deal with me.’
Ever since Seohyun Woo became student council president, no one had managed to take the position from him.
Many talented students continuously challenged him, only to be defeated and demoted.
That was why even the vice president and department heads did not recklessly challenge him.
‘The only students qualified to challenge me are the vice student council president and the department heads. Of course, when the student council president competition is held, even freshmen are given the opportunity.’
The positions within each department were divided into six ranks.
Department Head.
General Affairs Officer.
Team Leader.
Management Member.
Official Member.
Temporary Member.
When freshmen joined a department, they received the rank of Temporary Member.
If they accumulated enough points through Advance Battles, they could quickly rise to Official Member.
‘The protagonist also challenged Seohyun Woo through the student council president competition. But that time is still far away. The question is whether I can hold out until then.’
According to the original story, Seohyun Woo maintained the position of student council president until the protagonist challenged him.
Their match ended in a draw, after which the protagonist was satisfied and graduated early.
However, there was almost no description of what happened to Seohyun Woo afterward.
Most importantly, the novel focused entirely on the protagonist, so there was no way to know exactly what Seohyun Woo experienced.
‘Considering all the possible variables, I really do need to rethink things a little. Seohyun Woo’s abilities are undoubtedly overwhelming, and his mana reserves are also extraordinary. But from the moment I became Seohyun Woo…’
“What are you thinking about so deeply?”
“Thinking, huh… There’s a lot I need to handle. I have piles of unfinished work, training to do, and I even need to build better relationships with you and the department heads. My head’s starting to ache from worrying about everything.”
“……Now I’m genuinely beginning to doubt whether you’re really the president. Honestly, I feel like sending you to a hospital.”
Baek Seoyeon’s gaze was cold, but her tone remained calm.
To be honest, Seohyun Woo’s changed behavior was not entirely unpleasant.
Unlike before, he openly expressed his thoughts and his facial expressions had become much more varied.
Perhaps it was only a temporary whim, but she wondered if it might be better to humor him a little.
“I told you, I’d consider going if you came with me.”
“You already know what my answer would be.”
“That’s fine. I can just keep asking until you say yes.”
“Don’t tell me you’re trying to flirt with me right now?”
“If I were, wouldn’t I have asked for your phone number first?”
“Why would you ask for that? You already have my number.”
“……Right. I temporarily forgot that I’m the student council president.”
“These days, you really do only pick the cutest things to say.”
“Do I really seem that cute? I’m honored.”
Seohyun Woo smiled awkwardly, feeling a subtle sense of disconnect.
Perhaps it was because he still had not fully accepted the fact that he himself had become Seohyun Woo.
Maybe even Baek Seoyeon felt uncomfortable seeing how drastically he had changed.
“Hm… It’s true. The vice president really is walking around with the president.”
“The vice president probably got curious too. The president’s changed far too much.”
Two female students in black uniforms were watching Seohyun Woo and Baek Seoyeon from afar.
The golden insignias and epaulets on their uniforms gleamed brightly, revealing that they held the rank of department head.
“So are those two dating now? That’s actually pretty romantic.”
