Chapter 11

Taesan pushed his tongue past her soft, plush lips.

Like her name, Hongsi was sweet—no, sweeter than her name itself.

He couldn’t breathe. His heart pounded wildly, his muscles tightening taut.

His vision turned white, as if a fuse had blown. Every instinct screamed at him to shove Hongsi away, yet his body moved on its own.

“Haa… mmph…!”

Taesan grabbed the back of Hongsi’s neck with his large hand and pulled her closer.

Breathing hotly against her, he frantically explored the inside of her delicate mouth.

No matter how much he tasted her, his thirst only grew worse.

The fact that this kiss had started because he wanted to drive Hongsi away had long vanished from his mind.

Veins bulging in his hand, he roamed desperately over her body, twisting his head as he deepened the rough kiss. Then, Taesan slipped his hand inside Hongsi’s T-shirt.

Just as he hurriedly pushed up the bra his fingers touched—

“Ah…!”

At Hongsi’s soft moan, Taesan suddenly snapped back to his senses and froze.

Slowly lifting his head, he saw Hongsi beneath him, her face flushed red as she let out uneven breaths.

What the hell had he just done?

As if cold water had been dumped over him, Taesan’s face twisted savagely.

“Get out…!”

Climbing off the bed, Taesan grabbed Hongsi by the wrist and practically dragged her down with him before throwing her out of the room.

“Get out of my house.”

“O—!”

Bang!

After slamming the door shut, Taesan breathed heavily.

His distorted face was filled with confusion.

You crazy bastard! No matter how out of your mind you are, how could you do that to Hongsi of all people…!

He couldn’t recover from the shock of realizing he had felt desire for Hongsi and lunged at her like an animal.

Even worse, the lingering heat he felt toward her still hadn’t faded, and neither had the arousal below his waist.

Cursing under his breath, Taesan headed for the shower. He roughly stripped off his clothes and turned on the cold water.

Shhhhhh.

Standing beneath the pouring stream, his heart still surged and dropped violently.

After enduring the cold water for quite some time, he finally calmed down a little, but the lingering image of Hongsi continued to throw his mind into chaos.

Deliberately, Taesan tried to erase thoughts of Hongsi by reviewing the project he had been working on.

He sat at his desk, rereading the same documents dozens of times over.

“Ha…”

And before he knew it, the sun had risen—without granting him the sweet sleep he valued most.

Taesan lifted his hollow eyes and glared out the window.

Sleep was incredibly important to him, yet because of one little brat, it felt like his entire day had been ruined.

Thunk.

At that moment, a small noise came from somewhere outside.

It sounded like it came from beyond the room.

Apparently, she hadn’t left.

Don’t tell me… she slept in the hallway? Then again, that did sound like something Hongsi would do.

Letting out a long sigh, Taesan got up and walked outside.

The fact that the door wasn’t opening properly made it obvious Hongsi had fallen asleep leaning against it.

After knowing Hongsi for so many years, he could picture it without even looking.

Taesan shoved the door open harder.

“Ah!”

Hongsi was pushed over and fell flat onto the floor in a ridiculous heap.

Crossing his arms, Taesan silently looked down at her.

Still half-asleep, Hongsi blinked blankly a few times before spotting Taesan and springing to her feet.

Then she smiled brightly and called out to him.

“Oppa!”

Annoyingly enough, that radiant smile almost melted his heart—Shut up, Kang Taesan.

Is now really the time to be swayed by a smile?

You need to push that soft face away immediately—…No, wait. Is this really my fault?

Hongsi had always smiled brighter than a newborn baby.

Naturally, any older brother’s resolve would weaken looking at a little sister like that.

Seriously, and she doesn’t even understand an older brother’s concern.

Swallowing a sigh, Taesan deliberately spoke in a cold tone.

“I’m pretty sure I told you to leave.”

“I don’t want to.”

“What? You don’t want to?”

When Taesan’s gaze turned fierce, Hongsi flinched.

“S-So what? You think glaring at me will scare me?”

She looked completely intimidated, yet still lifted her chin insistently, pretending not to be afraid. It was ridiculous.

“After getting taught a lesson like that yesterday, you still haven’t come to your senses?”

Hongsi blinked once, then suddenly her face turned shy.

Instinctively sensing danger, Taesan stepped backward.

“Don’t blush. Fix your expression right now.”

Would you look at this.

Not only was her face red, now she was twisting her legs together and tucking her hair behind her ear too.

“I… liked it.”

Fluttering her long lashes, Hongsi glanced sideways at him before speaking softly.

“It was my first kiss.”

Frozen in place, Taesan stared at Hongsi, his gaze unconsciously dropping to her lips.

The lips he had bitten and sucked on last night.

Those lips that had tasted sweeter than Hongsi herself.

Her slender neck, her supple body, and unlike how delicate she looked, the feeling in his hands had been…

“Oppa, do you want to wash up first?”

“Wash what?!”

Startled by the insane thought that had flashed through his head, Taesan stepped back again.

But he had already retreated as far as he could.

Seeing Taesan react in horror, Hongsi looked more confused than anything and explained,

“You need to wash up before going to work.”

After being mentally tossed around by Hongsi in the span of mere minutes, Taesan stared at her blankly before his face crumpled in frustration.

He turned around and opened the door.

But then he stopped again, looking back at Hongsi as he issued a warning.

“If you’re not out of my house by today, you’re really going to regret it. Got that?”

Slamming the door shut irritably, Taesan glanced downward.

The furrow between his brows deepened sharply.

Seriously, goddammit.

Vroooom!

Hongsi poked her head out the window. Taesan’s car sped down the alley and disappeared in an instant.

Hongsi waved energetically at the retreating car.

Once it vanished completely, she murmured to herself.

“It really… felt nice.”

The memory of his desperate breath searching her mouth and his hot hands roughly caressing her body was still vivid.

For Hongsi, who had never once dated anyone in her life, it was an unfamiliar sensation.

That was why it had hit her like a massive wave, swallowing her whole with overwhelming intensity.

Last night.

Not long after recalling the experience she had gone through for the first time in her life while touching her lips, Hongsi’s expression darkened.

‘This is a warning. Get out of my house immediately.’

Before leaving home, Taesan had coldly warned her with a hardened expression.

His eyes had held nothing but determination when he told her to leave.

She still couldn’t get used to the coldness in the gaze of the man who had always been gentle only with her.

But now wasn’t the time to lose heart.

At least he hadn’t thrown her out by force yet.

If she just held on somehow, things would work out.

“This is only the beginning. Why would I already be discouraged?”

Trying to stay positive, Hongsi quietly whispered toward where Taesan had gone.

“You know how stubborn I am, right? I’ll never give up.”

Hongsi clenched both fists tightly.

“I’m going to save you, Oppa.”

Just like how, long ago—

he had saved her when she was dying by the lakeside.

Steeling her resolve, Hongsi turned around.

“She’s still at the house?”

Because he hadn’t slept properly, his head throbbed painfully.

Even after swallowing headache medicine, there was only so much it could do.

Taesan’s condition wasn’t something a mere painkiller could fix.

What he desperately needed was rest in his own home.

The very house where the brazen intruder who had caused all this was lurking.

—Yes. Um… should we forcefully throw her out?

Synopsis

At the age of eight, a child was almost drowned to death in a lake by her own mother.

She was saved by Tae-san, who gave her a beautiful new name and a new life.

For Hong-si, loving Tae-san—her savior—was only natural.

“Then let’s do it. Marriage.”

Fifteen years later, rumors spread that Tae-san might get married. Overcome with anxiety, Hong-si impulsively confesses…

“If you’re going to do it, do it with me. Marriage.”

But—

“You shouldn’t touch things you can’t handle, kid.”

As expected, she is coldly rejected.

Maybe it’s finally time to let go of her one-sided love.

But then something strange happens.

‘I’ve been keeping the person who can block death right in front of me all along.’

A fortune-teller says Tae-san is destined to die before turning thirty unless he gets married.
And Hong-si is the only person who can save him while he lies in intensive care—by becoming his bride.

Hong-si makes up her mind. Just as he once saved her childhood self, she will save him now.

“Just like you saved me, I’ll save you too. Please let me become your bride.”

Tae-san laughs out loud.

His own little girl—the ragged child he once raised.

“I’m ready, oppa.”
“Then go ahead. Let’s see if you can handle it.”

And Tae-san pulls her into a kiss, swallowing her lips whole.
