Chapter…112
“A Secretly Capable Child Is Seeking For Her Dad”
The reason the carriage was in such chaos was simple.
“Wah Hey, squirt Hold the reins properly”
“Tie Be careful! Huh Raul Tie’s bag is falling”
“Wah, the horse is so fast”
Because the one holding the reins right now was none other than Tie herself.
Although Raul was helping her from behind, Astie was swaying on top of the horse like a bundle of straw in the wind.
Watching from inside the carriage, Nordics clicked his tongue.
“This feels mighty unstable.”
Apparently thinking the same thing, Veil glared at Basto.
“I told you already. No means no. Why’d you put the kid on the driver’s seat, huh?”
Basto awkwardly shut his mouth.
Then he hesitated before replying.
“What was I supposed to do when she begged nonstop for three whole days? She said it was her dream to sit up front with the driver. I couldn’t just ignore her forever.”
“Why not Are you gonna give in every time a kid begs? You spoil her too much, that’s why she keeps acting like this”
Basto pressed his lips together.
There was no point arguing with Veil over things like this anyway.
Basto had never been good with words, so he always lost against Veil.
Maybe this was what people meant by natural enemies.
‘Still, I had my reasons for allowing it.’
Basto lowered his gaze, feeling strangely hurt.
Then Veil muttered,
“That brat’s definitely gonna say she wants to ride without Raul next time. She’s got way too much reckless curiosity.”
As if on cue, an excited voice rang out from outside.
“Captain Stop petting the horse and hold the reins! When you want to stop, you pull both sides slowly like this”
Unlike Tie, who was laughing gleefully,
Raul’s voice from behind her sounded utterly desperate.
No doubt he was using every ounce of strength he had to keep the carriage from flipping over.
At that moment, Tie turned toward the members inside the carriage.
“Everybody, look at Tie Tie’s driving the horse”
Veil sighed.
He lazily stuck his head out the window and answered halfheartedly.
“Yeah, yeah. You’re doing great.”
“Really Right Tie’s cool, right I drive better than Raul oppa and Enzo oppa, right”
“Yeah, so please watch the road.”
“He Blackie Grandpa Nordics Look at Tie”
But the excited child had no intention of stopping.
After being called out directly, even Lucarion and Nordics poked their heads outside.
“This ride quality is truly incredible.”
“Astie I’d believe you if someone said you were a professional.”
Tie giggled proudly before finally facing forward again.
“Raul oppa, everybody says Tie is good at it! So until we get to the new house, Tie should keep driving”
“Squirt, you didn’t forget our deal earlier, did you Ten minutes only. Seven left now.”
But at that exact moment,
Veil’s merciless announcement shattered the good mood completely.
Tie’s eyebrows drooped sadly without her realizing it.
Behind her, Raul softly comforted her.
“I’ll let you ride again later, Captain.”
Tie looked at him pitifully.
“Really”
“Yes. But it’s a secret from Sir Veil, alright”
Tie nodded vigorously.
Then, while smiling brightly again and looking ahead
“Wow, a river”
The scenery of a vast river unfolded before them.
Raul smiled.
“You’re right. Looks like we’re almost there. That’s the Isera River.”
“The Isera River”
“Yes. It circles around the Imperial Capital and the center of the capital district. It’s also called the Boundary of the Old and New Gods.”
Raul adjusted the cloak that had slipped from Tie’s shoulders.
“Don’t you remember the story Grandpa Nordics told yesterday?”
Tie’s eyes widened.
“I remember The old and new gods”
After leaving Kaldenvine Ridge,
Agabert had continued traveling at full speed.
There was no time to waste, and they absolutely had to arrive at the capital today because of their promise with the Supreme Commander.
But yesterday afternoon,
the massive side effect everyone had worried about finally erupted.
Tie had fallen into the biggest boredom slump of her life.
Well, for a four-year-old like Tie, a journey lasting several days was simply too long.
To comfort the restless child, Nordics came up with an ingenious solution.
‘Tie, are you very bored?’
‘Yes Tie’s gonna turn into a rock at this rate.’
‘Then this grandpa shall tell you some old stories.’
Nordics told Tie several stories about the Empire and the Imperial Capital.
And one of them was about the “Boundary of the Old and New Gods.”
‘You know the current capital district is an expanded one, right’’
According to Nordics, the capital district of Talochium had originally been a single independent city.
Like how Seoul is the capital of South Korea.
But when magic stones began appearing, the Emperor expanded the capital district.
In modern terms, it was like merging Gangwon Province and Chungcheong Province into Seoul.
‘But does Seoul even include Gangwon and Chungcheong.’
While Tie struggled to recall the map puzzle she had learned in kindergarten,
Nordics continued speaking.
‘But you see, expanding the capital district caused tremendous confusion.’
‘Why?’
‘Places that had never been part of the capital suddenly becam part of it overnight. Of course there was chaos.’
Tie nodded blankly.
After all,
even the mountain village Kaldenvine Ridge officially counted as part of the capital district.
Not only that
the weapons district, Pearl City.
Practically every place they had passed through after the checkpoint belonged to the capital district.
‘Think about it. Did any of those places truly feel like the capital to you?’
Tie shook her head.
No matter how much she thought back, none of those places had felt like some massive city like Seoul’s Jongno District.
‘But once you cross the Isera River into the Old Capital—the capital before the expansion’
‘Everything changes completely. The place overflows with life, and magnificent buildings line the streets.’
The Isera River.
A massive river surrounding the original capital before its expansion.
Its other name was the “Boundary of the Old and New Gods.”
Now it served as the line dividing the Old Capital from the New Capital.
‘You’ll understand once you see it. What it means to step into an entirely different world just by crossing a river.’
Sure enough, Raul smiled from behind her.
“We’re almost there. Just across that bridge.”
Tie swallowed nervously.
Indeed, the closer they got to the Isera River, the more clearly she could see the city ahead, glittering like an enormous jewel box.
Tie calmed her pounding heart and looked around.
At some point, all sorts of carriages had begun filling the roads around them.
Once they entered the bridge over the river, there were even more.
Maybe because of the crowding, several coachmen nearby could be heard shouting.
Realizing the traffic had become congested, Basto stuck his head out from the carriage.
“Tie. Are you alright?”
Tie nodded vigorously.
Then she looked around in a daze.
‘Ten minutes should be almost up by now.’
At this point, it seemed impossible to stop the carriage and move back inside.
“I’ll try to find a place where we can pull over briefly.”
At Raul’s suggestion, Tie finally let go of the reins.
Instead, she held tightly onto Raul’s arm while they searched for a stopping spot.
A strange carriage suddenly shoved itself dangerously close to Agabert’s carriage.
It nearly collided with them.
Veil immediately stuck his head out the window and pointed angrily.
“Hey, are you insane?”
But the other coachman merely snorted.
“Hey, your side’s the one drifting over. What do you want me to do about it? You should give way.”
Tie’s mouth fell open.
‘This is
Road rage driving
Her heart pounded.
Actually, she had seen this kind of thing before in Jongno District.
‘Yep four-lane road here. The Morning suddenly cuts in from the side.
More specifically, from the YouTube videos the hardware store uncle watched every single day.
‘The insurance company claims the submitter is 60% at fault. Alright Time for viewer voting’
Whenever Tie sat with the uncle, she eventually ended up watching those videos too.
Mostly because the uncle exploded with anger every single time he watched them.
‘These people are completely insane Tie, hurry and press this. This one.’
‘What’s this?’
‘It’s the viewer vote.’
Tie had voted many times on the uncle’s phone that dangerous driving was bad.
‘And now they’re doing something like this’
The child’s eyes burst into flames.
Then, with a grave expression, Tie shouted:
“Mister You didn’t even use your turn signal, so what do you think you’re doing right now?”
