Episode 05.
The fierce resistance had vanished. At some point, they were clinging to each other with desperate intensity.
Hee-jae had known the moment she fell into Gyo-binās armsāshe would melt, just like before. She had always known.
“Even though I knew I shouldnāt get too involved with Shin Gyo-bin, my body kept craving him,” she admitted to herself.
It was true. She had been the one to confess first, the one to beg him for a single night. On the drunken night she had first fallen into his arms, she had instinctively knownāescaping his trap would become much harder.
Their connection had become a source of intense, almost dangerous pleasure. For Hee-jae, it was laced with pain; for Gyo-bin, it was nothing but blissāmaking him even more addicted to her.
She had tried to escape, cutting every tieāeven betraying Shin Group and its chairman, Shin Hyung-gilājust to be free of him.
āGyo-binā¦ā she whispered, trembling.
But her year-long flight had ended. And now, she was beneath him againātrapped in his grasp.
His hands moved with confident familiarity, as though no time had passed at all. He knew her body, every reaction, every weakness, as if it were yesterday.
āYouāre still the same⦠still my favorite place,ā he murmured, almost teasing.
Hee-jae trembled, unsure whether she wanted to push him awayāor cling to him even tighter.
āYouāre doing this on purpose, arenāt you?ā he asked, eyes gleaming.
āN-no⦠Iām notā¦ā she replied, shaking her head, tears forming.
She tried to look away, but he caught her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. In his eyes, there was a faint, dangerous glimmer of madness.
āThis face⦠I came back just to see it again,ā he whispered, smiling faintly.
āIf you didnāt want this⦠you shouldnāt have crawled back to me.ā
His voice was softātender, almostāyet the intent behind it was unrelenting, leaving her trembling with conflicting emotions.
āWhat if you forget me again?ā he murmured, touching her cheek, his tone mockingly sweet. āThat would hurt my feelings.ā
Gyobin leaned closer into Heejae’s embrace, trying to find a more comfortable position before his movements grew more intense.
āPlease⦠Gyobinā¦ā
He wanted to go slowly, but his instincts overwhelmed his self-control.
āHeejae, do you still love me?ā
Even as he tried to force out the answer he longed for, Heejae resisted. He would not fall for Gyobin’s manipulative tricks again.
āā¦No. I hate you. I despise you!ā
Although his body trembled as if surrendering, his mind stayed clear. He could not return to being someone else’s plaything. The determination to push Gyobin away was carved deep in his heart.
She had to do it.
Although her instincts quickly surrendered in front of Shin Kyobin, she repeated to herself that she must resist, whispering “no” again and again to maintain her reason.āI swore Iād never get entangled with someone like you again⦠not even if it killed me.ā
The bitterness in her heart had taken root deeply.
Choi Hee-jae was no longer the naive girl from her early twenties.Kyobin sighed, brushing back his damp hair, and leaned closer until their faces were nearly touching.
āAre you doing this on purpose? Using your head like thatā¦?ā
Hee-jae shook her head slowly, her eyes widening in shock.
But Kyobin smiled with dangerous fondness.āYou know what that makes me want to do to you.ā
Despite herself, she trembled. She wanted to hate him, to push him away. But her body betrayed her, clinging to him even as her lips refused to say the words he wanted to hear.
āYou really know how to drive me crazy.ā
That night, the boundary between love and hate blurred completely. What she despised mostāperhaps even more than Kyobināwas the weakness of her own body, which yielded to him no matter how much her mind resisted.
