Episode 04.
The residence where Shin Gyo-bin supposedly lived alone—
was this very apartment.
Now that she thought about it, Hee-jae had been assigned the 37th floor of this 38-story building.
The top floor was known to be the most luxurious penthouse.
Gyo-bin must be living directly above her.
From the start, she had suspected the housing arrangement was too extravagant.
But she had never imagined he would place her directly beneath his home.
“So this was your plan? To drive me crazy even after work?”
Her voice carried sharp suspicion.
She could already see the road to hell unfolding before her.
Being tormented at work was bad enough.
Now, living right below him meant he would find every excuse to visit—
just like this, without warning.
“Torment you? Hee-jae, that’s a hurtful thing to say.”
The hallway light flicked back on as Gyo-bin stepped closer.
Hee-jae retreated, but he walked in as if he owned the place.
“You know how much I adore you.”
Once again, he tried to bind her with sweet words.
His soft eyes curved gently—
the same eyes that had deceived her from the very beginning.
The boy who had endured scorn within the chaebol household,
yet always smiled kindly at her—
had grown into a man with sharper lines,
but his gentle gaze remained unchanged.
And it still made her weak.
“Didn’t know you had such taste… you look quite daring at home.”
Only then did she realize—
her loose silk robe had slipped, revealing a deep neckline.
“Ah…!”
She flushed crimson and clutched the fabric tightly.
“Please, just leave. I don’t want you invading my private time too.”
But when she marched toward him,
thinking he would retreat—
he didn’t move an inch.
“No.”
His audacity left her stunned.
“This is exactly why I brought you here. Why would I leave?”
Then he grabbed her wrist—
and pulled her into his arms, sealing her in his embrace.
“You know what it means for you to be by my side.”
He whispered against her ear.
Her body stiffened, her stomach tightened.
Her instincts screamed danger.
She remembered—
that night nine years ago when she drunkenly leaned on him,
confessed her feelings,
and let him take her in his arms.
Since then, they had shared only physical intimacy—
for nine long years—
until she became a prosecutor a year ago.
Now, returning to Shinil Group meant their relationship had also returned.
“Did you think I obsessed over you because I couldn’t hire a competent lawyer?”
His unwavering eyes sought hers.
Her gaze trembled despite herself.
“Ah, Gyo-bin, please…”
Her plea went unheard.
His grip on her waist tightened,
his hand clamped firmly around her wrist.
“Hearing my name only excites me more.”
His husky whisper sent strength draining from her body.
Then his lips descended—
claiming hers, parting them with practiced ease.
“Stop… please…”
She pushed at his chest,
but he only smiled and wiped her saliva-stained lips with his finger.
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen that look—like you’re about to melt.”
Moments later, she felt her body lifted,
carried toward the sofa,
helpless to stop him.
“Didn’t you beg me to sleep with you, even once?”
“Didn’t you confess first, saying you liked me?”
He mocked her with memories of her own past words—
moments of weakness that had doomed her.
She had mistaken his predatory nature for kindness.
She had believed he was her savior when the world abandoned her.
And now—
she was paying the price.
“I missed you so much. Do you know what I had to do to bring you back?”
His hand slipped under her dress.
“Damn it… do you know the lengths I went to, just to have you?”
Their relationship should have ended long ago—
yet here they were, dragged back to a time
she swore she’d never return to.
