Chapter 26
Big Uncle tilted his head while stepping on the back of the warrior.
“Wait a minute, your face looks familiar.”
“Ugh, w-wait a sec, gah!”
“Aha, you’re Jigon, right? You were under me. Nice to see you.”
Soon, Big Uncle grinned as if he had figured it out.
“Alright, alright, let’s start with the massage Biwon gives~”
With every stomp he gave, static sparks flew. It had to be painful.
‘…So that’s what they call high-frequency massage in this world.’
I quickly turned my head away.
“Were you with Big Uncle?”
“Why do you think that?”
Well, the timing was suspicious. They showed up at almost the same time.
I hesitated and then finally muttered, “Thanks.”
As expected, Dad’s expression didn’t change.
He looked like he was either wondering what the big deal was or acting like this was totally normal.
I got down to the floor and rushed to Black Aide. Then I quickly examined him.
‘Thank goodness.’
Aside from some minor injuries, there were no major wounds.
‘His wrist has a hairline fracture.’
I took out a bandage from my bag and tried to wrap it skillfully… but struggled a bit.
It was because my hands were too small.
Dad and Uncle were watching me like I was some kind of curiosity.
“Wow, our little chick even carries bandages around?”
I mean, okay, that’s expected from Dad, but…
Black Aide, why are you watching like this is some amazing show while I treat your own son?
“Oh, a hairline fracture on the wrist? Tsk. That’s lack of training. Lacking.”
“…Oppa is only nine, though? And the opponent was a fully trained warrior?”
“Hey, Princess. If it were Big Uncle, I’d just—like this, like this! Slash the sword clean off and zap with lightning! Back in my day…”
I shook my head in disbelief.
I now understood why Black Aide was exasperated with his father. He should be thankful he has such a filial son.
“It’s true! When I was nine, I used to chew on rocks!”
“If you eat a wock, depending on its shize, they cut your tummy to get it out.”
“……”
After shutting Big Uncle up, with help from both of them, I got Black Aide settled at home.
We made it home safely, but when Brainy opened his eyes, he cried so pitifully it was hard to calm him down.
“Goodness, whose baby is this crybaby Brainy?”
“Do you want to swap with mine?”
“Sure. Mine’s way too stoic. No cuteness at all.”
Big Uncle laughed.
“Spiritual beasts always resemble their master, after all.”
Wait, did that mean Black Aide cried easily too?
I haven’t seen him cry, even briefly. It didn’t suit him.
Which meant… he must’ve held back countless times.
“We shouldn’t raise a child to have no tears.”
Because if we do…
“They won’t know when it’s okay to cry.”
They won’t know when they’re supposed to cry anymore.
I looked up at the sky for a moment.
Before I knew it, two pairs of eyes—Dad’s and Big Uncle’s—were watching me.
‘I’ve still got something left to do.’
Since Black Captain’s operation ended in attempted murder, it was now time for him to face the consequences.
The bastard, his companions, and two warriors were all tightly bound with ropes and locked in a prison where wind blew fiercely.
On top of that, Big Uncle’s lightning had formed a sort of double-layered barrier.
‘No way they’re escaping from that.’
If we teamed up with my other uncle, Black Birang, who must be asleep now, no one could stop the three brothers.
‘It’s like holding a 100% winning lottery ticket in my hand.’
My hands were itching with anticipation.
Once the groundwork was laid, turning myself into the family head of a female lead? Piece of cake.
“Daddy. You said the letter arrived, wight?”
Sitting on the floor, Dad lazily nodded at me.
Whoosh!
A breeze blew.
Riding the wind, a sheet of paper landed in front of me.
It was the message Dad had received.
“Just as it says there.”
As I read, my expression grew serious. What was this?
“They said they can’t approve it right now, so come in person.”
I jumped up. I tugged at Dad’s sleeve.
“Wet’s go wight now!”
The sun was still up!
Besides… there was another reason I needed to visit the main estate.
‘That bastard Black Captain and his crew…’
Watching me, Big Uncle raised his hand.
“I wanna come too~”
* * *
Main Estate.
It refers to all the buildings to the west from where I live.
Because it’s so massive, each section has different responsibilities.
We were headed to the department that manages people in restricted areas.
That means everyone locked up in the east and all matters related to them.
“How disgraceful… What happened?”
“Isn’t that Lord Black Captain?”
“Why in the world is he bound like that…?”
People whispered non-stop as we passed. They weren’t even trying to keep their voices down.
I giggled inside.
‘How embarrassing, huh, you punk?’
Behind us were Black Captain and his crew, all bound in ropes.
They looked like they were walking, but if you looked closely, they were actually floating just above the ground, being dragged.
‘Big Uncle’s tying skills are master level.’
Those guys probably felt like circus clowns right now.
“Our little fairy, are you feeling good?”
Right now, I was riding on Black Aide’s shoulders.
It was really high up and fun.
Though… I felt like a landmark, with everyone’s eyes drawn toward me.
Seriously, he can’t even carry a child normally.
‘I wanna come too~’
Earlier, when Big Uncle volunteered to come with us,
I realized how he happened to appear at just the right moment after supposedly being out.
‘Actually, I ditched work, haha.’
He had placed a lightning-like barrier around his quarters, but apparently someone tripped it, so he came back to check it out.
Now he said he had to go back again.
‘Black Aide did say he went to quit the butcher today.’
Then is it okay that Big Uncle just stormed out mid-conversation?
Worried, I tightly clutched Big Uncle’s hair, and he patted my leg.
“It’s okay~”
Did he have eyes on his head or something? He responded like he knew exactly what I was thinking.
“I’m quitting anyway, so I might as well go out with a bang today.”
“…Weally?”
“Of course. Our princess is going to support me and your brother now, right?”
With a grunt, Big Uncle lifted me and now carried me in his arms.
I could clearly see his wide, smiling face.
Big Uncle grabbed my hand and waved it to the side.
What’s he doing?
“Hey, bro, greet our breadwinner.”
“Stop saying such creepy things.”
Dad, walking beside us, looked faintly disgusted.
“What are you saying? She’s our savior and baby fairy! Be respectful!”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Okay okay, Big Uncle was wrong~”
Then Black Aide suddenly kicked Dad. Not hard, just playful, but it made a loud sound.
Dad quickly turned his head.
“What the hell…!”
Big Uncle dodged the wind that came flying at him while holding me. A loud “Aaargh!” rang out behind us.
“If you want treatment, you better flatter her.”
“Why should I?”
“Our little niece needs to be in a good mood to treat you, freeloader.”
“……”
Dad stared at me for a moment and then suddenly spoke, as if he had come to a realization.
“What kind of flattery do you want?”
“…Forget it, let’s just hurry up.”
What the heck.
These people are totally crazy.
