“Tell me it’s not true. Tell me it’s a lie.”
Her voice cut through the silent air.
“Senior, you… me… you did this to me…”
Unable to even finish her sentence, Seo-won’s lips could only repeat the same words.
He could see her small fists trembling.
She must have been clenching them so tightly that the knuckles protruding on her frail hands looked as if they must be in pain.
“What if I said it was true? What would you do then?”
Kang Tae-seung’s flat, emotionless voice made her hair stand on end.
Seeing him speak without so much as a blink, the corner of Seo-won’s mouth lifted weakly.
What would I do? That’s what you’re asking me?
A myriad of emotions flickered across her pallid, bloodless face.
The hollowness of realizing she had been played with all this time.
The sense of betrayal from being deceived by sweet, honeyed words.
The despair of having her trust completely shattered.
And yet, as if she still wanted to believe him, she asked once more. Even though she knew it was all futile.
“I don’t need to hear anything else. So… please.”
“Tell me exactly what you want to hear. Min Seo-won.”
At Kang Tae-seung’s voice, as cold as a frosty blade, tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Senior, were you really… the one who made me like this… the culprit?”
A crack formed in the three white areas of his eyes[^1] as he looked down at her with an expressionless face.
Gasping out his last breath, Kang Tae-seung finally spoke.
“Yes, it was me.”
