Prologue
Bang.
The heavy fireproof door shut, and the sharp scent of cool cement hit the air.
Outside, the sound of the fire shutters rolling down echoed, and overhead, the fire alarm wailed: Whee-eeeng.
“What do you think you’re doing in the team leader’s office? Don’t you know abuse of power is prohibited? You have to separate work and personal matters.”
Even under the delinquent gaze that scanned him from head to toe, the man didn’t even frown once.
Every button was neatly fastened, his tie not a fraction out of place, and the silver cufflinks above his sleeves glimmered.
A person admired by everyone.
Perfect in appearance, flawless in personality—just like his name suggested.
Yoo Han-gyeol.
Ever since he joined the company, it was almost inevitable that he became the subject of employees’ gossip.
It was no different for So-mang; she couldn’t forget him either.
“Are you going to keep making things difficult like this at work?”
“I should be the one asking that. Don’t you think this is a bit… dangerous?”
He leaned down slightly with his tall frame and approached slowly, pressing her.
“In a closed space.”
The button at the top of his collar came undone.
“Just the two of us here.”
The tip of his sleek shoe pressed right against the toe of her sneaker. The sensation climbing from her toes made her nerves stand on end.
“Are you okay with this?”
“Team leader… what are you—”
“I find this situation more… inconvenient, So-mang.”
No matter how she tried to avoid his gaze, there was nowhere to go in the cramped space.
His dark eyes quietly traced her from eyes to nose to lips.
In an instant, the thick, sticky air bound them together.
“So-mang.”
“Yes, team leader.”
“Are you going to keep calling me that even when it’s just the two of us?”
“Yes… it’s the office, after all—”
Ugh!
He silenced the unwelcome reply with his lips.
The brief kiss made her neck tighten with tension.
Not knowing what to do, So-mang turned her head to the side, and he, following, spoke softly against her beautifully lifted lips.
“Why run when we haven’t even started?”
“A-are you trying to kiss me… here?”
So-mang, horrified, tried to cover her lips with her hand, but trapped against Han-gyeol’s chest, she couldn’t move an inch.
“Then what do you think I’d do? As I said before, I’ll just seduce you properly.”
His large hand caressed her soft cheek.
“Whether it’s a kiss… or something else, wouldn’t it have to be more than just a peck to make you give in?”
He loosened his tie so he could move more freely, revealing the hollow of his collarbone between open shirt buttons.
From his dark, lustful eyes, she could read exactly what he planned next.
So cold.
Their mingled breaths soon joined, and their pliant lips pressed together.
As her slightly parted lips wrapped over his upper lip, the cool stairwell air grew hot.
So-mang shook her head in resistance, but it seemed only to excite him more, and she could feel the heat pooling beneath them.
She felt as if she’d be consumed entirely before the building ever caught fire.
At that moment, Han-gyeol, apparently unsatisfied, pulled his lips slightly away.
“Baek So-mang, open your mouth.”
With his sticky words, her body followed his lead and pressed closely against the wall.
“We can’t just settle for a kiss, can we?”
His hand, which had been caressing her cheek, slowly slid down and lifted her chin.
So-mang’s lips opened like a baby bird receiving food.
When she realized it, the warm flesh inside her mouth was intertwined with his.
“Hhh!”
The more impatient the kiss became, the shorter her breaths against his lips, and the more intimate their contact along her shoulders grew.
“Please consider marriage positively.”
Han-gyeol smiled slightly, lifting one hand to her waist and slowly sliding it along her curves.
