Chapter 29
One’s belongings could be shared with any chosen person.
Using that function, Jang Sunam lent his weapons and armor to Pi Gwangseok, who immediately looked at him with suspicious eyes.
“W-what’s your scheme…?”
“Just put them on.”
Gwangseok hesitated, glaring back and forth between Sunam and the unfamiliar man, but quickly donned the equipment.
And the moment Gwangseok gripped the weapon, Sunam leaned in with a mischievous smile and whispered:
“It’s him.”
“…What do you mean?”
“The one who stole your Hundred Authority Guild.”
“What?!”
At those words, Pi Gwangseok’s eyes widened as he turned to glare at Hong Taegyun.
“That bastard… the one who stole the guild I built?!”
“W-wait! Gwangseok! This is a trick! He’s trying to make fellow Seeds of the Evil God fight each other!”
“Shut your mouth, bastard! None of that matters anymore!!!”
With a roar, Pi Gwangseok charged forward, gripping the Fragmented Warhammer with murderous intent.
Sunam chuckled inwardly.
‘Oh~ It’s starting.’
Watching two villainous Seeds fight each other was far more entertaining than doing the dirty work himself.
“I raised the Hundred Authority with blood and sweat, and you dare steal it from me?! I’ll never forgive you!!”
With a shout, Gwangseok extended his hand, activating Telekinesis. Hong Taegyun’s legs locked in place, stopping him from escaping.
“DIEEEE!!”
“Guh?!”
The massive hammer came crashing down. Taegyun desperately lifted his longsword to block, but against such weight, a blade was meaningless.
CRACK!!
“GAAAHHH!!”
Bones shattered—arm, ribs, all splintered under the impact. Gwangseok raised the hammer again, ready to finish it with a fatal strike to the head.
“W-wait!! I don’t have any lives left!!!”
That desperate cry made Sunam instantly spring forward, thrusting his halberd to deflect the hammer.
BOOM!!
“GUHHHAAAAHH!!!”
The strike veered off, sparing Taegyun’s head—but instead smashed his leg into pulp.
“That’s enough.”
At Sunam’s command, Gwangseok exhaled heavily through flared nostrils and stepped back. Then, obediently, he removed the borrowed gear and set it neatly on the ground.
Stripped of everything by Jelly earlier, Gwangseok no longer had the courage to resist Sunam.
Meanwhile, Hong Taegyun slumped against the wall, his body broken.
“My… inventory disappearing… that was your doing?”
“Yep. Took everything. And I’ll be taking your gear too.”
Right then, a portal opened, and a black cat stepped through.
Jelly.
It had finished its mission and returned.
“Strip him of the rest.”
“Understood, nya.”
Jelly’s shadow elongated, tendrils slithering out to peel away Taegyun’s bound equipment.
The sight left Taegyun aghast.
To forcibly unequip bound gear… That defied the system itself.
Defeated, his face turned hollow.
“…So, what now? Kill me?”
“That depends on the value of the information you hold. I’ll give you a choice—confess willingly, or take the confession drug.”
Taegyun’s eyes darted toward Gwangseok’s bald head. Realization dawned—he now understood why the man had lost his hair.
“…I swear on my name, I’ll tell you everything.”
“Huh. Seems everyone loves the confession drug.”
“?! N-no! I said I’ll talk!!”
“Jelly. Open his mouth.”
“Nyahaha.”
Tendrils forced Taegyun’s jaw open. Gwangseok smirked from the side, savoring the sight.
“AAGH! NO! AAAAAH!!”
But Sunam showed no mercy, pouring the liquid down his throat.
After six regressions of being deceived countless times, Sunam no longer trusted villains’ words.
When the drug began working, he asked calmly:
“Your name?”
“…Hong Taegyun.”
Fortunately, he was genuine.
“Tell me everything about the Seeds of the Evil God.”
Taegyun spilled what he knew, but most of it was information Sunam had already uncovered.
‘Damn. It’s never easy to dig into them.’
At best, Taegyun confirmed the obvious: the Seeds operated like independent guilds, gathering Chaos Energy across the world.
Without capturing a higher-ranking officer, concrete intel seemed impossible.
Then, Taegyun added:
“The plan to gather Chaos Energy… was supposed to begin today.”
Sunam exhaled in relief.
‘Good. If I’d found him even a day later, the zombie virus would’ve been unleashed on a massive scale.’
“Too bad your plan’s in ruins.”
But Taegyun suddenly chuckled.
“Khuhuhuh….”
An uneasy sound. Did he still have something left up his sleeve?
“What’s so funny?”
“…Whoever made that confession drug… should work on the functionality.”
Sunam’s eyes narrowed.
“What are you hiding?”
“Nothing. You just didn’t ask the right questions.”
“…Then tell me why you’re laughing.”
Taegyun looked up with unfocused eyes, his body deteriorating fast. Likely internal bleeding from the hammer strike. He didn’t have long.
“You’ve made one mistake. The Chaos Energy collection… isn’t a single plan.”
“…!! How many more are there?”
“There’s no fixed number. The plans will keep spawning, endlessly executed… forever.”
“And how many do you know of?”
“…Two. One of which… you just destroyed.”
His gaze shifted toward Jelly.
“Among the loot you stole… there’s a Fate Score. A tool given only to select Seeds…”
His voice weakened.
“Jelly.”
“Don’t know what that is, nya.”
The cat dumped all of Taegyun’s items on the ground. Taegyun pointed with a trembling hand.
A simple black wooden plaque. Other than a tiny engraved emblem of the Seeds, it looked unremarkable.
“Rub the surface….”
Sunam did so.
And then—
Shine.
Bright orange numbers appeared, glowing like digital digits.
【-1,078】
A meaningless negative number.
“What is this?”
“…Wait. Since you foiled my plan… it’ll synchronize soon.”
As he said that, the numbers shifted rapidly.
【-823】
【-108】
【0】
【+127】
The minus figures surged upward, crossing into the positive.
Sunam instantly understood.
‘So this is what he meant by “Fate Score.” An item that measures the world’s destiny itself.’
If disasters struck, it dipped into the negatives. Preventing catastrophe raised it.
And this was something he had never once seen in six lifetimes of regression.
Exclusive to the Seeds.
“Cough… That plaque lets you see the world’s fate.”
“How’s it made?”
“Heh… You think they’d tell a grunt like me? Cough!”
Blood speckled his lips. His time was short.
“My mission is simple. Drive that number… into the negatives. Forever.”
The words hit Sunam like a revelation.
If raising the score into positives represented hope—
‘Then raising it… means pushing the world toward a Happy Ending!’
At last. A clear, tangible method to aim for salvation.
‘So in every past loop, this number must’ve stayed buried in the negatives, thanks to those damn Seeds.’
Not this time.
This time, he would turn it positive.
‘Stopping the zombie virus raised it by 1,205 points. That must’ve been a major event. Smaller incidents probably don’t affect it.’
Only global-level crises seemed to register.
‘Good. If I can uncover and stop the other plans—’
But then—
【+127】
【0】
【-225】
【-664】
【-1,478】
The numbers plummeted.
‘What the hell?!’
