Chapter 04

After leaving the Executive Director’s office, Do Ju-myung went straight to see the spiritual master, Myung-woon.

Even if the Baby Shaman was gifted, she couldn’t possibly be more accurate than Myung-woon.

For every major decision—whether for the family or Haenam Construction—Ju-myung always sought Myung-woon’s counsel first.

It wasn’t an exaggeration to say the family’s rise and fall rested entirely in this master’s hands.

Thanks to this guidance, Haenam Construction wasn’t just Korea’s top construction firm; it was also winning massive overseas bids, taking its place on the global stage.

Ju-myung believed this was all Myung-woon’s doing—without a shred of doubt.

“Chairman, you’ve come without notice. Your worries must run deep.”

Myung-woon greeted him warmly.
Ju-myung paid him astronomical sums, after all.
To the master, Ju-myung was a goose that laid golden eggs.

“When we named Jin-hyuk, we balanced Fire, Wood, and Earth perfectly. But now you’re saying he needs a woman with strong Water energy? Isn’t that a direct conflict?”

Ju-myung’s face was clouded with concern.
Jin-hyuk’s name—Do Jin-hyuk—had been crafted by a famous naming expert.

  • The family name Do (都) held Earth energy.

  • The middle character Jin (振) held Wood.

  • The final character Hyuk (赫) carried Fire.

This balance of Fire-Wood-Earth was supposed to bring prosperity to the family.

Ju-myung had heard of the Baby Shaman’s reputation but had never met her himself.
He needed Myung-woon to confirm the prophecy.

“That’s precisely the problem. The name was crafted too well.”

The master’s rattle jingled before his heavy words fell.

“What do you mean by that?”

Ju-myung’s eyes widened.

“Wood fuels Fire, and Fire creates Earth. The cycle burns fiercely, destabilizing the household. A woman with strong Water energy is needed to dampen it—firmly.”

Ju-myung’s breath caught.

“So what Jin-hyuk said… was true?”

“Yes, Chairman.”

Ju-myung pressed his lips tightly together, unable to scold Myung-woon for not warning him sooner.
His face betrayed his discomfort nonetheless.

“If you give me the birth charts of his potential matches, I can review them.”

The master offered, pretending to be generous—but of course, it wouldn’t be free.

Back at the company, Ju-myung sank heavily into his chair.
There was no reason to visit the Baby Shaman again; her prophecy matched Myung-woon’s.

“A woman with strong Water energy…”

But it was already June.
How could they find her—and arrange a marriage—before year’s end?

At the Hospital

The next day, Yeon-su visited Su-ryeon at the hospital.

“You did well. Are you feeling okay?”

Su-ryeon had just undergone emergency surgery.
Though it was common, organs had been removed.
Seeing her friend hooked up to tubes and drainage bags made Yeon-su ache inside.

“Yeah… it almost ruptured, they said.”

Su-ryeon smiled weakly.

Yeon-su held her hand tightly.
They had been close since high school, bound by their similar names.
If not for Su-ryeon’s sudden illness, they might have gone to college together.

Su-ryeon’s younger brother, Kyung-hoon, entered the room.

“Hey, noona, you’re here?”

“Who… are you?”

“It’s me—Kyung-hoon.”

Yeon-su blinked.
The last time she’d seen him was at her high school graduation; he had been a sixth grader then.
Now, he was a grown man with a sturdy frame.

Once Kyung-hoon left to buy banana milk, Su-ryeon got to the real point.

“So… was the VVIP customer satisfied yesterday?”

“Satisfied? I might have ruined everything…”

Su-ryeon gently nudged her.

“No way, Yeon-su. You’ve got a gift.”

Her cheeks glowed with excitement.

“Because… the offering transferred into my account was much higher than promised.”

Yeon-su smiled faintly, still feeling uneasy.

“You’re worried? Over what? It’s not like you’ll ever see him again.”

Su-ryeon dismissed her friend’s concerns with a shrug.

“Besides, men are terrible with faces. He probably just remembers that the Baby Shaman was pretty—nothing more.”

Yeon-su felt a flicker of relief.

Then Su-ryeon brightened.

“Actually, I drew a good fortune for you. You’re getting a job—at Haenam Construction.”

Yeon-su forgot she was in a hospital and let out a delighted scream.

A Few Days Later

Yeon-su received the acceptance call.
It was only a one-year contract, but still—her dream job.

On her first day, she stood before Haenam Construction’s gleaming headquarters,
its curved exterior designed by a famous French architect.

“You can do this, Ha Yeon-su.”

She whispered to herself before stepping inside.

In the small auditorium, she joined the other new hires for orientation.
The lights dimmed, and a video played—showcasing Haenam Construction’s values, achievements, and vision.
Her heart pounded with excitement.

Then, the lights came back on.
Standing at the podium was a man of striking height and flawless features.
The host announced:

“This is Executive Director Do Jin-hyuk.”

The new employees applauded loudly.
But Yeon-su froze.

Because the man at the podium was none other than the VVIP customer—
the one she had given a fake prophecy to.

“I’m doomed.”

synopsis:

“You’ve got marriage luck coming your way. A woman with strong water energy, born in December. Don’t let her slip by—make sure to hold on to her.”

Frustrated after repeatedly failing job interviews, Yeonsu visits her friend Su-ryeon, a fortune teller famous under the name Baby Shaman. But by a twist of fate, Yeonsu ends up pretending to be the shaman herself and reads Jin-hyuk’s fortune in her friend’s place.

“You’ve got marriage luck coming your way. A woman with strong water energy, born in December. Don’t let her slip by—make sure to hold on to her.”
“If you miss her, you’ll be met with one misfortune after another.”

Despite the ominous prophecy, the man keeps mocking and sneering.
To make things worse, the mask hiding Yeonsu’s identity is about to come off, threatening to expose her completely.

Later, Yeonsu is shocked to meet him again—this time as the executive director at her new company.

“Turns out, the woman in that fortune perfectly matches you, Ms. Ha Yeonsu.”
“Maybe… it’s just a superstition?”
“Are you saying the Baby Shaman conned me, then?”

Yeonsu swallowed hard at his words.

“If the Baby Shaman conspired with someone to scam me, I’ll sue both of them and strip their souls bare.”

Yeonsu thought she had narrowly escaped the worst, but it seems she had been utterly mistaken.
