I remembered it all at once—I’d possessed a romance fantasy novel about the forbidden love between an angel and a holy knight. And the timing couldn’t have been worse. Right after I stamped a work contract that made me the aide to the final villain. And who, exactly, was that villain? The king of demons. The ultimate mastermind. A being fated to meet a horrifying, miserable death at the end of the story. If things continued like this, I was guaranteed to be dragged into the original plot and die a spectacularly terrible death alongside him. So I made a plan. For three years, I would work quietly under him as a perfectly obedient aide. Then, the moment the original story began— I’d run. The problem? My boss and coworkers seemed determined to remind me at every turn that they were demons. But I don’t know anything! I knew nothing before, I know nothing now, and I will never know anything—ever! Three long, agonizing years passed, spent being ground down between demons. Just when I thought I was finally free— Things went wrong. “Ria,” my boss asked casually, “what did the contract say again?” Damn it. The vivid red letters written at the very bottom of the contract flickered before my eyes like a curse.
