Chapter 5
Possessed by My Favorite Idol’s Favorite Idol
‘Moa.’
Jihyun stared blankly at her phone.
Among the countless messages filled with worry and concern, the one message that should have arrived first was nowhere to be found.
From an outsider’s perspective, Jihyun’s accident was simply reported as an incident that occurred while preparing for a performance, resulting in only minor injuries.
However, the members of Moa, who were in the same group as Jihyun, must have known everything—the accident she suffered and even the fact that she had been hospitalized for two whole weeks.
So why was it that not a single one of them had visited her in the hospital, or even sent a simple message asking if she was okay?
‘Is there some kind of problem?’
After pouring herself a glass of water, Jihyun sat down on the sofa and habitually searched for the remote.
“I really don’t understand.”
Muttering softly, Jihyun stared absentmindedly at the TV.
As if on cue, Moa’s members, excluding Jihyun, were appearing on a music broadcast.
So that was how it was.
Two months had passed since the incident, which matched the comeback date Jihyun had vaguely heard about for Moa.
‘They got first place.’
Well, that made sense.
Jihyun nodded.
She expected this.
As idols from a top-tier entertainment company, their songs were good, their performances were good, and their fandom’s ability to mobilize was beyond question.
It would actually be strange if they didn’t succeed.
The encore stage was the same.
Even without the main vocalist Jihyun, the other members’ skills were so outstanding that they filled the empty space perfectly.
Their relaxed appearances throughout the broadcast were nice to watch as well.
They sang their songs, joked around with each other, and seemed completely comfortable.
That was why it felt even stranger.
“Wouldn’t it be normal to… mention it at least once?”
I’m the one who feels hurt here.
Jihyun tapped her innocent phone screen irritably with her fingernail.
It was the same during the comeback interview and the encore stage.
Even if they didn’t contact Jihyun personally, wouldn’t it have made sense to mention her once during their first-place speech just to maintain their image?
They didn’t even have to shed tears or make a big deal out of it.
Just one mention would have been enough.
But there was nothing.
Had she considered contacting them first?
Of course she had.
But whether she checked her contacts or opened the chat app, there was no record of ever talking with Moa’s members.
Only their phone numbers were saved.
And strangely enough, there wasn’t even a group chat room that should obviously exist.
The more she thought about it, the more things felt suspicious.
The way they appeared in their own content videos was definitely not like this.
What happened?
‘I don’t know.’
Jihyun grabbed her aching head and buried her face into the cushion.
Don’t think about it too hastily.
The previous quest’s progress was only at 10%.
As she continued completing future quests, she would gradually learn things one by one.
She still didn’t really understand what these quests were, but either way, the instructions seemed to imply that she needed to live as Jihyun.
Right now, all Jihyun could do was follow the quests, put in effort, and hope that time would eventually resolve her anxiety.
Here.
Wave.
One last time.
“Boom, step.”
Spin once, finish, and look directly at the camera.
Jihyun wiped away her sweat while once again being amazed by her own reflection in the mirror.
It had already been a week since she came here, but this body’s abilities were still astonishing no matter how many times she saw them.
And it wasn’t just dancing.
Even cute facial expressions that were enough to make her fall in love with her own reflection came out naturally, as if her body was a machine that simply produced whatever she input.
No, that wasn’t enough.
Since it came out with a beauty beyond what words could describe, she should probably call it a supercomputer instead.
Thanks to that, Jihyun was adapting to this body surprisingly quickly.
Another reason was that practicing itself was fun.
How could it not be?
Those large, gentle-looking eyes.
The black hair that had clearly been meticulously cared for, flowing smoothly whenever she moved.
And a face that was literally smaller than a fist.
Even on such a small face, her features were perfectly arranged, clear and beautiful.
Her proportions were excellent too.
No matter what pose she made or what expression she put on, looking at herself in the mirror was simply fascinating because she looked so beautiful.
Because it was fun, she unknowingly practiced harder and harder, and the quest completion rate also rose rapidly.
Become an idol. (67%)
‘The progress is already over 60%.’
To think she had caught up to more than half of the original owner of this body within just a week.
There was a saying that even a dog living near a village school for three years would learn to recite poetry.
After 15 years of being a K-pop fan, Jihyun could confidently say that the amount of information she had seen and heard was not inferior to that of idols trained by major entertainment companies.
Of course, the truly amazing part was that Jihyun’s current body could perfectly bring out all those memories and knowledge whenever she wanted.
But still…
‘It’s okay to be a little proud of myself.’
Jihyun played Moa’s newly released title track and tried dancing along.
She had only watched the choreography video a few times and copied it.
But when she recorded herself and watched the footage, it looked so perfect that she wouldn’t have seemed out of place standing on stage immediately.
This was enough.
After finishing the dance, Jihyun grabbed a microphone and tried singing this time.
Just like her dancing, her singing ability didn’t disappear.
Her voice came out exactly as she imagined, powerful and refreshing.
‘Can I really sing while dancing?’
She remembered how, during a school talent show in the past, she tried dancing and singing at the same time.
She had ended up panting and ruining both.
But that was Sehee.
Jihyun was different.
Somehow, she really was different.
To think she could sing while performing such intense choreography.
A first-class idol really was on another level.
No wonder even after practicing like crazy, there was still more than 30% left.
“I should rest a little.”
This should be enough for today.
Seeing how the completion rate was increasing even faster than before, if she continued like this, a new quest would probably appear soon.
Maybe it would even be a quest that allowed her to return to her original body.
‘This system really is strange.’
Thinking that she should go buy some snacks at the convenience store, Jihyun grabbed the doorknob and stepped outside.
No message appeared.
But whenever she thought about going near her original home or the place where the accident happened to search for something related to her original body, the warning appeared without fail.
The terrifying message saying that it could cause negative effects and lead to death.
She had already been discharged from the hospital quite some time ago, and she had gotten used to Jihyun’s body quite well.
Yet it still wasn’t the right time.
Well, what could she do?
She just had to wait.
‘But… what’s this in the corner?’
Was this originally here?
With a towel around her neck, Jihyun stared blankly at a glowing yellow question mark beneath the quest window.
Unlike the quest window, which disappeared whenever it seemed like Jihyun had stared at it for too long, this question mark remained floating there.
Even when she looked at it, nothing happened.
It was annoying her.
She wondered what she should do.
That was when—
“Whoa, you scared me.”
After Jihyun stared at it for several seconds, the question mark suddenly expanded like the quest window.
Jihyun removed the towel and began reading the letters that appeared one by one.
“A new event.”
An event?
Again?
Event Quest
It is time to learn more about ‘Ahn Jihyun.’
Go to JW Entertainment.
“Go there? To the company?”
Jihyun narrowed one eye.
She couldn’t help but wonder what this was.
It suddenly told her to visit the company headquarters?
All the quests she had received so far had given her some kind of direction.
The first event quest was the same.
Because she went to the annex, she was able to organize the situation a little, and as a result, the second quest appeared.
Perhaps this event would also become an opportunity to learn more about the person named Jihyun.
Fine.
Let’s go.
I’ll try anything.
‘Ah, right.’
Jihyun hurriedly put on her shoes and was about to leave without thinking.
Then she suddenly realized something.
She was no longer an ordinary person.
She wasn’t wearing stage makeup, but she couldn’t ignore an entertainer’s proportions and aura.
Even from far away, people would immediately recognize her as Ahn Jihyun.
It was embarrassing that she admired herself every time she looked in the mirror.
But every time, her overwhelming visuals forced her to accept it.
‘I don’t know.’
Since things had already turned out this way, she might as well enjoy it.
The life of a superstar.
