Chapter 14
From the moment he grabbed the cadet’s wrist, everything turned chaotic.
“Let go, you bastard!”
The cadet struggled, but it was no use. Dominic’s grip was like iron.
“Let go, I said!”
The cadet’s voice cracked in panic, and the other trainees finally snapped out of their daze and rushed toward Dominic.
“Let him go, now!”
Dominic coldly narrowed his eyes and, with a single push, released the cadet’s wrist. The boy stumbled back, clutching his hand, his face contorted in pain.
“Damn…!”
As the situation spiraled out of control, a stern voice rang out from behind.
“What is going on here?!”
Everyone froze.
A man in a formal instructor’s uniform was approaching, flanked by two other trainers.
Dominic stood firm.
The instructor looked around at the tense faces, then at the cadet still rubbing his wrist.
“What happened?”
“…He suddenly attacked us,” one cadet said quickly, pointing at Dominic.
“He grabbed my wrist out of nowhere!”
“That’s right! He just exploded!”
“He was being aggressive first—!”
The instructor raised a hand to silence them.
Then his gaze shifted to Dominic.
“Is this true?”
Dominic didn’t answer immediately. His jaw tightened, and for a brief moment, it looked like he would stay silent as always.
But this time was different.
“…They were harassing someone.”
The instructor frowned.
“What?”
“They surrounded me first. Started provoking me. I ignored them, but they wouldn’t back off. Then… they tried to hit the girl who stepped in to stop them.”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Mabel.
She flinched but stood her ground.
The instructor’s eyes narrowed.
“Mabel. Is that true?”
She nodded.
“Yes. I saw it all. Dominic didn’t start it.”
“Lies!”
“They’re making it up—!”
The instructor silenced them again with a sharp glare.
“Enough. I’ll get to the bottom of this.”
He turned to the other trainers.
“Take them all to the discipline office.”
“What?!”
“But Instructor—!”
“Silence. If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve nothing to worry about.”
The cadets fell quiet, reluctantly following the trainers.
Dominic glanced at Mabel, who looked up at him with a sheepish smile.
“…Sorry.”
He blinked.
“For what?”
“I didn’t mean to get you in trouble.”
Dominic exhaled quietly and looked away.
“You didn’t. I did what I had to.”
And for the first time in a long while…
He didn’t regret it.
