Chapter 09
A little over an hour and twenty minutes later, Bunny finally opened her eyes with a gloomy expression.
She spread her hand, and a pale white light floated up and burst.
“Wooooah!!”
Gasps erupted from all around at the same time.
Clatter, roll.
But the spreading light slowly faded… and something fell to the floor, rolling right to Bunny’s feet.
The excited murmurs stopped instantly.
An egg…
No, it was a quail egg.
‘Total failure…’
In Bunny’s imagination, all the dads-in-line turned their backs on her and walked away with faint smiles.
“No way…”
Thud.
Bunny dropped to her knees in front of the egg.

The moment Bunny placed her hand on the crystal ball, her hand was sucked inside—and the world flipped upside down.
She was flying above clouds.
She floated over a sea of clouds, surrounded by strange glowing lights.
Beautiful, multicolored lights.
‘Light!’
Only then did Bunny realize these were the same lights the other children had received.
She pushed through them, eyes sparkling. Instinctively, she knew it—there was a dragon here.
‘Big light!’
She stretched her right hand forward and paddled her feet, flying like a swimming motion through the air, moving forward.
Dodging glowing lights that kept trying to approach her, she searched for the dragon.
“Luri, what’s a… ‘left-arm black flame dragon’?”
“Huh? Oh, that? It’s like… a super cool, super powerful jet-black dragon beside the Demon King. If it’s on your left arm, you get insane courage—you can do anything.”
“Wow…”
Left-arm black flame dragon!
Her eyes sparkled. Black flame meant black light.
So she ignored all the approaching bright lights and kept searching.
Eventually, she spotted something in a corner of a tree-like shape—a pitch-black glow.
A small one. But definitely black.
“I found it!!”
Her left-arm black flame dragon!
She ran toward it and reached out—
But suddenly, a white and red light shot in and landed in her hand.
“Eh…?”
Blink. Blink.
Bunny stared at her hand.
Then at the trembling black light.
Then back at the white-red light forced into her palm.
“No!!”
She tried to drop it—but the world suddenly flipped.
Her small body was pulled downward.
“Nooo! My flame dragoooon!”
Her sorrowful cry drifted across the cloud sea.
But the black flame dragon never reached her hand.

Sniffle. Sniffle.
Bunny stood there holding the rolling egg—no, quail egg—trying not to cry.
“Flame dragooon…”
Every word was full of sorrow.
“I… totally failed…”
She buried her face into the white uniform of Roden Highner.
“Child, when you come from an orphanage and are adopted, you must choose a guardian…”
“…Dad plan… failed.”
No dragon. No letters. Nothing special.
Just ordinary Bunny.
No “super demon dad” would ever want her.
Still…
She wiped her face roughly.
“New plan… Money plan.”
Rich kids are always liked.
From the romance stories Luri told her—things like “The Cursed Illegitimate Child Became the Richest in the Continent” and “How I Became Rich at Age 4”—she remembered everything.
If she couldn’t get a dad, she would get a guardian.
Sniff.
She looked up again.
No one was lining up to be her dad.
Then she turned her head slowly.
If no one chose her…
She would choose them.
Sniff.
Her eyes scanned the hall.
And then—
She saw him.
Sitting at the upper seat.
Black hair.
Red eyes.
‘So handsome…!’
Approved.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
Dad candidate selected.
Because in all her storybooks, strong demon kings always had black hair and red eyes. And this one was handsome too.
Perfect.
While Bunny was lost in imagination, the hall had fallen completely silent after the unprecedented “egg-like summon.”
The duke stood up.
“Everyone has worked hard today. We will hold private interviews later. For today, that is all.”
With that, Duke Rudebrid Yudia left.
The moment he left, the children scattered in all directions.
And at that exact moment—
Bunny turned her head
