Chapter 8
The person beside him asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I think I just saw someone I know.”
They had grown up with Feng Tingshen and knew that Rong Ci liked him.
To be honest, Rong Ci was very beautiful. She was quiet and gentle. Beautiful, yes—but not especially memorable. She was not Feng Tingshen’s type.
Feng Tingshen kept his distance from her, and they didn’t think much of her either.
They had only met Rong Ci a few times, and when they did, they didn’t bother to greet her.
Actually, her appearance had already become a little blurry in his memory, so he wasn’t even sure if he had seen correctly.
But even if it really was Rong Ci, he didn’t care.
He said nothing more and turned back to the private room.
…
Rong Ci did not notice Qi Yuming.
After leaving the hotel, she sent Chu Zilan home and stayed there that night to take care of her.
When Chu Zilan woke up and saw Rong Ci, she hugged her gratefully. “Thanks for last night! I’ll treat you to a meal another day!”
Rong Ci had already prepared breakfast. She patted her head gently. “Go wash up. The food will get cold.”
Chu Zilan hugged her tightly, burying her face in her waist and refusing to let go. “Xiao Ci, you’re so soft and smell so nice. It feels so comfortable hugging you~”
Rong Ci: “…”
After washing up, Chu Zilan saw the delicious breakfast Rong Ci had prepared. She felt extremely happy and sincerely thought that whoever married Rong Ci would be very lucky.
But thinking about Rong Ci’s marriage with Feng Tingshen, she held back her words, afraid of hurting her.
She sat down, eating breakfast while scrolling through her phone.
After a while, her expression changed. “Feng Tingshen is back in the country?”
Rong Ci: “Yes.”
Chu Zilan handed her the phone.
Rong Ci glanced at it and saw that it was a social media post from Qi Yuming, Feng Tingshen’s friend.
He had posted several photos from their gathering last night.
The caption read: Happy birthday to the beautiful birthday girl~
Although it was meant to celebrate Lin Wu’s birthday, four or five of the nine photos were of Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu together.
Especially when cutting the cake—they were holding the same crystal knife together.
As for their daughter, Feng Jingxin, she did not appear in any of the photos. Most likely they were avoiding letting the elders of the Feng family know. After all, the old Madam Feng and Rong Ci’s grandmother were good friends, and because of issues between Rong Ci’s mother and Lin Wu’s mother, the old lady had never liked Lin Wu.
If she found out that Feng Tingshen allowed Feng Jingxin to get close to Lin Wu, she would definitely be very angry.
Looking only at the photos, anyone who didn’t know better would think Feng Tingshen and Lin Wu were a real couple.
It was also clear that this birthday party had been specially prepared by Feng Tingshen for Lin Wu.
Thinking of the cold treatment she had received on her own birthday half a month ago, Rong Ci looked away.
Chu Zilan looked at her worriedly. “Xiao Ci—”
“It’s fine. Whatever they do has nothing to do with me anymore.” Rong Ci returned the phone. “I’ve asked Feng Tingshen for a divorce.”
“What?!”
Chu Zilan was shocked. “You—you were the one who brought it up?”
“Yes.”
In the past, Chu Zilan hadn’t disliked Feng Tingshen.
On the contrary, she used to admire him. She had even had a small crush on him.
Mainly because he was just too outstanding.
Rong Ci had skipped three grades, graduated from the top university in the country before turning eighteen, quickly started her own tech company, and obtained several patents. To Chu Zilan, that was already unbelievable.
But Feng Tingshen had reportedly graduated from university at thirteen.
Soon after graduating, he went abroad for further studies.
When he returned, he had already founded several companies of his own—and all of them were publicly listed.
At that time, he wasn’t even twenty yet.
His companies covered technology, medicine, entertainment, and tourism.
In the following years, while continuing to start new companies, he also took over the Feng Corporation.
Over the past few years, he had easily taken the Feng family business to a higher level.
Who in their circle wouldn’t give him a thumbs-up?
Not to mention his extremely handsome appearance.
So Chu Zilan never found it strange that a genius like Rong Ci would fall for a genius like Feng Tingshen.
However, Feng Tingshen was truly cold toward people he did not love.
Thinking of how he had misunderstood Rong Ci for years and trampled on her sincere feelings, Chu Zilan completely lost her admiration for him.
She had always seen how deeply Rong Ci loved him.
Over the years, she had advised Rong Ci more than once to get a divorce.
But Rong Ci had always just quietly shaken her head.
So she had never expected Rong Ci to be the one to bring it up.
She couldn’t even continue eating. Looking at Rong Ci with concern, she asked, “What happened?”
For Rong Ci—who had always firmly loved Feng Tingshen—to ask for divorce, something must have happened.
After thinking for a moment, Rong Ci said, “It’s not really one big thing. Maybe the disappointments just piled up. Suddenly I felt tired… so I decided to divorce.”
Chu Zilan knew her well. Once Rong Ci made a decision, even if she hadn’t fully let go yet, she would not change her mind easily.
She was serious.
Chu Zilan walked over and hugged her. “It’s okay. Divorce might be a good thing.”
“Mm.”
After breakfast, Rong Ci left and went to work.
Before she moved out, even though she and Feng Tingshen worked at the same place, they always left at different times and never went together.
Plus, he guarded against her carefully. Sometimes they wouldn’t see each other at the company for a whole month.
Now that she had moved out, they had run into each other two days in a row.
Today, Feng Tingshen looked the same as always—tall, handsome, calm. And just like before, whenever he saw her, the coldness on his face became even more obvious.
As yesterday, he only glanced at her before looking away.
Rong Ci lowered her eyes. Just like yesterday, she softly said, “President Feng,” and only walked into the company after he had gone far ahead.
She didn’t know if Lin Wu had come to the office today, and she didn’t care. She focused quietly on her work.
At noon, her grandmother called.
“Xiao Ci, someone sent over a lamb from X City. The weather is getting colder. Come home for dinner tonight. Grandma will have them prepare a full lamb feast for you.”
Hearing her grandmother’s kind voice warmed Rong Ci’s heart. “Okay. I’ll come back after work.”
Other than in the morning, she did not see Feng Tingshen again that day.
After packing up and preparing to leave work on time, Cheng Yuan brought her a document and asked her to handle it urgently.
Rong Ci paused.
It was called urgent, but after glancing at the content, she knew it wasn’t truly urgent.
In the past, she would have accepted it with a smile and promised to finish it quickly.
Because she didn’t want special treatment.
But today, she didn’t want to strive for perfection anymore—especially in matters related to Feng Tingshen.
And she was tired.
Now she only wanted to go home early and spend time with her grandmother. She didn’t want to work overtime.
In the past, she had always wanted to get along well with Feng Tingshen’s private secretaries.
But now, there was no need.
Besides, Cheng Yuan had wrongly accused her yesterday without knowing the truth. She wasn’t generous enough to pretend nothing had happened.
She looked at Cheng Yuan and said calmly, “I won’t handle this now. I’m getting off work.”
